Job Description
Dispatches police, fire, rescue and public works equipment and personnel usually in response to emergency situations and disseminates information to the general public and emergency services. Receives and disseminates information thru the use of computers linked to the Virginia Criminal Information Network. Employees are hired in a “trainee” capacity with promotion after one year. Fast-paced environment where attention to detail and the ability to multitask are a must. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferably supplemented with some work experience with Police and/or Fire and Rescue; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must become certified to operate the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). Must pass police security clearance. Bilingual, Spanish/English speakers encouraged to apply. THIS POSITION REQUIRES ROTATING SHIFTS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.
