Duties: Our Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician positions are full-time, paid, uniformed, entry level positions. We provide all basic training at our Training Academy. Major duties include:
* Emergency medical care;
* Fire suppression;
* Driving, operating and maintaining apparatus and equipment;
* Participating in fire prevention activities;
* Attending training sessions;
* Presenting public education programs
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to read and understand policies, rules, instructions and written material pertaining to fire and rescue operations;
* Ability to learn firefighting and basic life support emergency care evolutions, techniques, methods and to apply such information appropriately;
* Ability to follow written and oral directions;
* Ability to exercise prudent judgment during hazardous circumstances;
* Ability to act quickly and effectively during emergencies;
* Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public, co-workers, and supervisors;
* Ability to present public education programs;
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
* Ability to function and perform at emergency incident scenes;
* Ability to conduct in-station training.
Education and Experience: * Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. A GED is acceptable.

Preferences: These entry level positions require no previous experience. We provide all the necessary training at our Training Academy.
Preference may be given to individuals with VA or National EMT-I or EMT-P certification.
Other Compensation If selected to attend our Training Academy, we provide a competitive minimum salary of $44,086 and exceptional benefits. For Advanced Life Support certification, we provide an additional $5,291/year incentive pay plus per hour supplement pay. Annual retention supplements are also offered. Employees are eligible for up to $5,000/year tuition reimbursement, and we offer a stipend for individuals who are bilingual English/Spanish. We offer an excellent benefits package with additional retirement options for Firefighters/Emergency Medical Technicians.
