The City of Harrisonburg Fire Department is seeking applications for the position of Firefighter – Part Time. These are year-round positions averaging 2-3 days per month at a minimum of $11.91 per hour.
Typical Qualifications:
Applicants to be considered for these positions must currently be employed as a firefighter with one of the following jurisdictions: Augusta and Rockingham Counties, Cities of Staunton and Waynesboro.
The following certifications are required: Virginia Firefighter II, EMT and Hazardous Materials Operations, or a VA recognized equivalency.
Successful applicants for this position will be subject to a DMV Motor Vehicle check and must complete a satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen.

Must have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by required firefighting and emergency medical training and considerable experience in emergency services as a cleared BLS/ALS provider.

Will be responsible for providing quality care in transporting patients from/to RRMC to/from other outlying facilities not requiring 911 assistance. In addition, must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served. Must also possess the ability to collect data reflective of the patients status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedure guide. Must be a confident leader who can accept the challenge and responsibility entailed.
