Salary: $ 34,631 Full Time

Job Description: The City of Portsmouth is seeking a full-time (80 hour work period) EMS Paramedic to perform advanced life support work. Must be a U.S. citizen, 19 years of age at the time of submission of application.

Education/Experience: Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. Requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in the provision of emergency medical care in an E-911 system as a certified paramedic by the Commonwealth of Virginia and/or nationally registered and must be Tidewater EMS Council Sanctioned or have the ability to obtain a Tidewater EMS Council Sanction.

Special Requirements: Must possess or have the ability to obtain certification in ACLS, PALS, ITLS, EVOC and CPR (AHA or Red Cross). All certifications must be current or be obtained within 90 days of hire date. Must possess a valid Driver’s License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. All out of state applicants must obtain a Driver’s License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia within 30 days of employment. Applicants will have to pass a background investigation process, which will include but not limited to a polygraph, criminal history check and a DMV driving history.
