We are accepting applications for Probationary EMT/Firefighter to establish an eligibility list and will be holding a written and physical ability test in May for positions opening in July. Probationary EMT/Firefighters perform responsible protective service work in fire suppression, emergency medical services and hazardous materials; and do related work as required. Work is often performed under regular supervision, in emergency and non-emergency conditions, and frequently involves considerable personal hazards. Applicants must have: Valid driver’s license; High school diploma/GED; Excellent physical condition; Non-tobacco user; EMT-Basic or higher; Firefighter I and Hazmat Awareness certification. EMS Firefighter – Colonial Heights – Closes February 10th

EMS FIREFIGHTER – Fire & EMS Department – Salary Range: $38,192 – $65,552.

The City of Colonial Heights is accepting applications for EMS Firefighter.

Duties: Provides advanced emergency medical care and transportation, performs protective service work in fire suppression, drives fire engines and ambulances, develops and presents public education materials, and performs routine maintenance on equipment and station.

Minimum Requirements:  Requires high school diploma or equivalent; current EMT-B certification; 1-year of EMS experience; valid VA driver’s license prior to employment; and successfully pass all phases of our fire selection process, which will include a written examination, physical ability test, background investigation, medical and drug screening.

Prefer current Intermediate or Paramedic certification, VDFP Fire Fighter II, Hazardous Materials – Operations Level, Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC) Level III, and formal recruit academy completion.  Successful candidates will be required to maintain all Fire and ALS (Intermediate or Paramedic) certifications throughout employment.
