Description
Performs 12 lead ECG and places patients on continuous cardiac monitoring. Applies accurate orthopedic splinting devices. Performs patient phlebotomy following department and facility policies and procedures. Provides wound care according to department clinical practice standards and acts as a resource to physicians and nurses to provide patients with optimum care. Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies to optimize delivery of patient care and treatment.
Requirements
Acute-care experience desired. Verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills (IDX).
Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED. Paramedic/EMT/CCT with current national registry. Able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Description
Riverside Regional Medical Center has an labor pool opening for an EMT. Qualified candidate will work under the supervision of the department manager, supervisor and the Online Medical Director. Will be responsible for providing quality care in transporting patients from/to RRMC to/from other outlying facilities not requiring 911 assistance. In addition, must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served. Must also possess the ability to collect data reflective of the patients status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedure guide. Must be a confident leader who can accept the challenge and responsibility entailed. Must be able to function independently to high level of care within a structured environment that is constantly changing. Requires successful completion of a Virginia or National Registry Paramedic or EMT-I Training Course and successful completion of the Emergency Vehicle Operations Class. Required EMT-I, EMT-P, EVOC. Minimum of one to three years of field experience preferred.

Job Description
Performs responsible technical and human support work providing medical care to patients using basic life support (BLS) and stabilization procedures at the accident or illness scene and during transport to medical facilities. Not to exceed 40 hours per pay period. General knowledge of the methods, materials, practices
and techniques and equipment required for emergency medical treatment in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Possession of an appropriate valid vehicle operators license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Current valid Emergency Medical Technician certification issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Possession of a valid basic life support provider certificate for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Successful applicants must maintain current EMT-B card and CPR card while in employment with the City of Roanoke.
