Fire Fighter Medic
The County of Orange Fire and EMS Department is seeking a full-time Firefighter/Medic. Primary responsibilities can include, but are not limited to:
¨ Perform intermediate protective service work responding to fire and emergency medical service calls.
¨ Perform fire suppression.
¨ Inspects apparatus and equipment; repairs and replaces equipment and vehicles.
¨ Analyzes and assesses patients and treat accordingly.
¨ Attends continuing education and recertification.
¨ Manages maintenance work.
¨ Performs custodial station duties.
¨ Verifies County map books.
¨ Provides mutual aid to surrounding counties.
¨ Provides public education and training.
¨ Supervises and directs patient care at an incident.
¨ Performs routine clerical functions.
¨ Operates portable rescue and extrication equipment.
¨ Maintains thorough knowledge on protocols.
¨ Work under the moderate supervision of the Captain.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED with certifications as follows: VA EMT-I or P, ACLS, BTLS, ALS or PEPP, Firefighter I, Vehicle Extrication, CPR and EVOC. Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. Must pass a state criminal background check. Thorough knowledge of firefighting techniques and procedures as applied to fire suppression. Thorough knowledge of emergency medical techniques and procedures. General knowledge of the street system and physical layout of the County, hazardous materials, accident extrication principles and techniques. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, volunteers and the general public.
Hiring Salary range is $46,303 – $60,193 (28 day cycle)

Public Safety Technician
The Campbell County Department of Public Safety, EMS Division is seeking motivated, customer service oriented and skilled Emergency Medical Service providers to fill up to six vacancies. It is anticipated that at least three to four of
the vacancies filled will be with applicants certified at the level of EMT Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic. All applicants must have current Virginia EMS certification at the level of EMT-Basic or higher, NIMS IS-700 and NIMS IS-100
certifications, current EVOC (class 3) and CPR certifications along with at least one full year of active EMS experience. Applicants certified as an EMT Intermediate or Paramedic must also have current ACLS, PALS and ITLS/PHTLS certifications. The ideal candidates will also have vehicle extrication certification, Virginia firefighter certification and/or instructor certifications as well. This position requires honesty, integrity and the ability to work well with the
County’s EMS Volunteers. The selected candidates will be assigned to 24 hour shifts located out of any one of the rescue squad facilities in Campbell County.
The successful candidates will be required to pass a written EMS exam, EMS skills test, a series of interviews, a pre-employment physical, drug screening.
Starting Salary Range: Dependant upon qualifications and/or experience.

Duties: Performs technical work in fire prevention, fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services, and public life safety education. These duties include driving and operating fire and EMS technical equipment. Duties are often performed under stress and in a variety of hazardous work conditions. Performs other duties as assigned. Employees in this class may be assigned to work rotating shifts or a straight day work schedule, as required.
