Requires:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Extensive background investigation, polygraph exam, criminal history check, credit check, sex offender check, driving record check, physical exam, drug screening, fitness assessment, and psychological assessment

2. Review the James City County Fire Department Selection Process Information Packet at http://www.jccegov.com/pdf/humresour/Fire%20Selection%20Packet.pdf.
3. Submit a James City County Employment Application by 5:00 p.m. on February 20, 2009. Be sure to attach any related certifications you may possess.
4. Register for one of the mandatory 2009 Selection Process Information Sessions at http://first.jccegov.com/NOWAC/attendevent.aspx by 5:00 p.m. on February 24, 2009. You will receive an e-mail confirmation after registering for the information session. No one arriving late to an information session will be admitted.
5. Register for one of the mandatory Applicant Physical Ability Test Sessions. You will receive information on how to register for the APAT at the 2009 Selection Process Information Session. You will receive an e-mail confirmation after registering for APAT, this is your ticket for entrance into the test.
Important information about the Applicant Physical Ability Test:
• Applicant must bring the APAT e-mail confirmation they receive with them to their scheduled APAT.
• Applicant must bring a photo ID (driver’s license, passport, or college ID) to be admitted to the test.
• Applicants must wear long pants and closed toe/heel footwear.
• Applicants must arrive on time to their scheduled testing. No one arriving late will be admitted.
• If an applicant does not pass APAT the first time they will be given an opportunity to re-test.
